In January 16-19, 2008 the National Council for Science and the Environment held its 8th National Conference on Science, Policy and the Environment at the Reagan Center, in Washington, D.C. The focus of the conference was on Climate Change: Science and Solutions.
Ricardo Alvarez was invited by the Florida Center for Environmental Studies [CES] at Florida Atlantic University [FAU] to be a panelist in a breakout session on Urban Response to Climate Change in Coastal Cities, other panelists were David Major from Columbia University, and Jap Voos from Florida Atlantic University. Len Berry, Director of the CES, chaired the panel. The main objective of the panel discussion was to compose a list of recommendations for action, including new or continued research efforts to support responses to climate change impacts by urban centers in the coastal USA regions.
