Typhoon Conson has weakened over the past six hours, but it remains a category 1 tropical cyclone as it appears to aim for major cities of Quezon and Manila, the capital, in the Philippines. The system should interact with Mount Pinatubo volcano to the northwest of Manila, so there is the risk of heavy rain and flash floods in the area over the next day or so.
